Solo Traveller

The trip alone leaves no one indifferent. Some love it, others fear it, many hesitate to take the plunge ... But one thing is certain: traveling alone is adventure with a big A. Those who taste are often satisfied. Eurovoyages gives you its advice to fly with your own wings while ignoring your apprehensions.

choose your destination

Some places are better suited to solo trips than others. If you are not very sure of yourself and want to go smoothly,  we advise you to choose a city of medium size, known for its culture and its warm atmosphere. For a first trip alone, there is nothing to go far, because some cities in Europe offer a change of scenery. For more experienced travelers looking for space and adventure, USA, Japan or Thailand are ideal destinations.
The most important thing is to choose a destination that you have to discover!

Basic Utilities to follow

A successful solo trip goes through a calm minded departure. For this, it is essential to settle all the paperwork before leaving. Here are some key points:

  • Invest in a pouch / bag that you can always keep close to the body. You will glide along all your important documents: identity card or passport, credit card, cash, cell phone, keys, etc .
  • Prepare a document on which you will list the emergency numbers to contact in case of problems : insurance, bank, relatives, embassy, hospitals, accommodation on site.
  • Check the validity of your VISA, passport and credit card. The latter must be accepted in the country where you are going.
  • Declare your departure to the French Embassy and note the address, as well as the telephone number of the Embassy of the country where you are staying.

Plan your journey

Ask about where you are going . You can create routes in advance if you like to foresee everything (you are alone, nobody will notice you!). If you are more of a spontaneous type, the minimum is to learn about the habits and customs (tips, gestures or behaviors to avoid, type of clothing to be preferred, currency) and basic polite formulas to know if you leave in a country whose language you do not know Avoiding arriving at night and planning at least these first two nights on site can also, you avoid extra stress.

Meet the locals

One of the best things about traveling alone is to be able to easily meet people. You are foreigners and locals will be curious to know your story. A tip: stay open to the world around you! And favor the places favorable to exchanges to punctuate your trip: cafes, parks, museums, bars of inns … Etc.
